On the weekend of the 30th of May the Euros Wedstrijdkolom went to the Bosbaan for the ARB Boasbaanwedstrijden. The weekend started for EJD already on Friday, where they started a 500m sprint race. Coxed by Meike, Merle, Marije, Elise and Beeke were able to cross the finish line as the first of three crews and win the sprint.
Saturday started bright and early with Mats going to the start for his Voorwedstrijd in the MB 1x. He was able to row to second place and therefore found his way to the A-Final, where he achieved a good 4th place.
After Mats it was time for EJZ to go to the start. Unfortunately on this day Thada was not able to be in the boot, which resulted in Luc Scholten falling in as a substitute. Feeling the struggle of not being used to rowing together, they rowed a good race and with a 3rd place landed in the B-Final, in which they were able to attain 2nd place.
At 11:30 it was time for EJD to start again, only this time in their usual distance of 2000m. After a satisfying voorwedstrijd, where they qualified for the A-Final with a second place, the A-Final of course proved to be very competitive and the crew was able to row to a third place on this Saturday, having to give 1st place to the crew of Gyas, with whom they would be combining on the next day.
The closing race for Saturday also turned out to be the day’s highlight: Frits rowed a dominant race in the MG 4x together with athletes from Theta, Njord and Asopos de Vliet, and crossed the finish line as the fastest boot.
The Sunday started once more with Mats, this time starting in the MG-B 1x field. After a 2nd place in the voorwedstrijd, the A-Final turned out rather challenging and ended in a good 5th place.
Also on this Sunday EJZ was going to the start, today again the normal crew as Thada was fit to start himself. The change was visible as they reached the A-Final with a 2nd place. In the A-Final they were able to achieve 4th place.
Starting next was Yvar, who reached the A-Final with 3rd place in his voorwedstrijd. In the A-Final of his field he rowed again to a good 3rd place.
On this day not in the four but in the skiff, Frits started his A-Final without a Voorwedstrijd. Feeling the strength of the Elite field, Frits was still able to stay with the pack and achieve a good 4th place.
The last A-Final of the day was the Gyros (Gyas + Euros) Elite women’s 8. Since only 6 crews signed there was also no voorwedstrijd for this race. In this very competitive field the Gyros 8 was able to achieve an unexpected 3rd place, closing off a successful day full of A-Finals.
